Jocelyn's love for horses and a desire to give back led her to Paradise Acres Ranch. With over 15 years experience working with horses from all walks of life, she has developed programs that have the horses needs in mind. Jocelyn now combines her knowledge of training, business, marketing and coaching experience with her life long passion for horses and equine therapy to help enrich the lives of horses and people with challenges. When Jocelyn is not at Paradise Acres Ranch training and coaching and snuggling with the horses you can find her chasing her three minions, pigs, chickens and dogs around her home near Calahoo, Alberta.
"Starting a horse isn't about what those call desensitizing. We cannot remove a horse from being sensitive as that is in their nature. It is an experiential opportunity built on trust and an ability to learn to not fear what they do not know or understanding."
Horses are energy based animals especially revolving around their nervous system in how they work/react. I work on creating a relationship to reach that solid foundation from the ground up. There is no minimum requirement for a horse to be started in our program. Each horse is treated with the same respect that we look to have from them.
Each horse in training is worked with 5 days a week, indoor and outdoor. Minimum 30 days for starting but 60 days is recommended if there is minimal handing. Many props and obstacles are included when starting to give them access to many scenarios.
This program gives horses the time they need to aid them back to where they were. Sometimes life gets in the way and horses sit and need some time in the saddle to bring back their confidence.
Road blocks happen. Its a part of owning horses. Sometimes horses can have a traumatic event, need refocusing, or have challenging behaviors. Whatever the case may be we offer a program that helps get to the root of the problem. This gives the horse a chance to move forward instead of being stuck.
